1978... We started with a small store in Jersey Shore to serve the growing number of scuba divers in our area. We not only offered PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certified scuba courses but also a full line of scuba equipment from Dacor.
1981... STSC became this area's first full-time scuba center offering training, sales, service, rentals and travel.
1984... We became the area's first PADI 5-Star Training Facility adding several staff members and instructors.
1987... We moved to our present location in Jersey Shore. Our new building not only houses our store front and offices but also a complete classroom and equipment repair facility.
1988... Rich Best, the owner of Sunken Treasure, became a PADI Master Instructor and a member of the PADI Instructor Review Committee.
1989... We became a testing facility for future Dacor products and remained the area's only authorized Dacor dealer.
1991... Sunken Treasure purchased a toll free number for the convenience of our customers. 800-794-7837
1992... Sunken Treasure was awarded the rating of PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center. This rating is awarded to only the top training facilities in the country and we are the only one in this area at this time. This rating was developed to combine the professionalism and qualifications of PADI Course Directors with the high caliber professionalism of a PADI Five Star Training Facility.
1994... Sunken Treasure expanded it's operations to include a new training facility in State College. This facility was located at the rear of 915 Benner Pike.
1995... Sunken Treasure's State College facility was awarded a PADI Training Facility rating; The first one ever in State College.

2001...Sunken Treasure took the gold prospecting hobby to new levels by selling the equipment (Keene & ProLine) needed by the new prospector or the old timer.
2004...We closed our State College retail location, however our Jersey Shore location was recognized by PADI as this area's National Geographic Dive Center. National Geographic Dive Centers are PADI's elite dive centers with the highest customer standards and product offerings.
2005...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center started offering Nitrox fills and E-Learning programs from PADI. STSC offers a PADI Seal Team program for 8&9 year olds, pool parties for ALL ages and celebration reasons. A Teen Only program was Co-Sponsored by the YWCA in Williamsport. STSC became a member of the Williamsport/Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce & DEMA (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association).
2006...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center was recognized as an Eco Dive Center and received an award for Twenty Five years of service to the diving community as a PADI Training Facility.
2009...Rich Best, owner of Sunken Treasure, received PA Cleanways Northcentral Volunteer of the Year award for his years of collecting and removing tires and other debris from the Susquehanna River.
2010...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center was one of only three scuba centers in the Northeastern United States nominated for the PADI Americas Project Aware International Marine Environmental Award. Rich Best was recognized by PADI for 30 years continued service as a PADI Instructor.
2011...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center received recognition for 30 years as a PADI Training Facility and for the second year in a row the PADI Americas Project Aware International Marine Environmental Award. STSC instructor, Greg Delker received PA Cleanways Northcentral Volunteer of the Year award for his years of collecting and removing tires and other debris from the Susquehanna River.
2013...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center was recognized as a PADI Green Star Facility. We have also partnered with the Georgia Sea Turtle Center's Marine Debris Initiative to head off debris before it's gets to the ocean. STSC owner, Rich Best received the SSI (Scuba School International) Platinum Pro Diver Award at the DEMA show in Orlando, FL.
2013...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center received recognition as a 10 year member of DEMA (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association)
2016...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center received recognition as a PADI 5 Star Facility for 35 years.
2018...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center received recognition as a 15 year member of DEMA (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association). Sunken Treasure formed a Public Safety Diver Team. All team members are members of the IUCRR (International Underwater Cave Rescue and Recovery)
2020…Rich Best, PADI Master Instructor and owner of Sunken Treasure Scuba Center was recognized by PADI for 40 years continued service as a PADI Instructor.
2021...Sunken Treasure Scuba Center received recognition as a PADI 5 Star Facility for 40 years.
